The Church has never lacked great minds. Her doctors, exegetes, and theologians left behind a body of scholarship of astonishing depth — much of it written in Latin, and much of it never translated into English. These works are not curiosities for specialists. They are the mind of the Church herself: her reading of Scripture, her memory of the Fathers, her answers to questions that are still asked today.
This library exists to bring those works into English — carefully, faithfully, and without charge. Every translation is offered freely, to read online or to download, because the patrimony of the Church belongs to her faithful.
The work begins with Sixtus of Siena's Bibliotheca Sancta, the great sixteenth-century survey of Sacred Scripture, whose annotations on the Old Testament appear here in English for the first time. Further completed translations are being prepared for the library now.
