Annotatio CLII
”Lord, how are they multiplied that afflict me,” etc. — Psalm 3:2
Augustine, in the commentaries on the Psalms, upon this verse, says:1 “In the history of the New Testament, so great and so wonderful was the patience of our Lord Jesus Christ, that he admitted Judas to the banquet, in which he commended and delivered to the disciples the figure of his body and blood.” Hermann Bodius, in the Collectanea, gathered from these words that the sacrament of the Eucharist is nothing else than a figure and type of the body of Christ. See what we have noted against this man, Annotation 146 of the following book.
